  INTRODUCTION

It is the opinion of the Bradford Premier League Management Board that abuse, dissent and violent conduct must be removed from the game of cricket. Following consultation with all stake holders the league's disciplinary procedures have been revised. Bradford League umpires have a responsibility for reporting unsatisfactory conduct by member clubs, their players, officials or supporters. Umpires may award five penalty runs where they consider the team and or individual are not abiding by the ECB Code of Conduct. This will form part of the disciplinary procedure.

Unsatisfactory conduct shall include, but not be limited to:
ArrowDissent at an umpire’s decision or reaction in a provocative or disapproving manner, whether verbal or written.
ArrowPhysical abuse, intimidation, assault or attempt to intimidate or assault an umpire, official, player or spectator.
ArrowThe use of crude, foul or abusive language or the making of offensive gestures or hand signals whether directed at an individual or otherwise.
ArrowExcessive sledging of an opponent or persistent appealing in order to put pressure on an umpire.
ArrowAny form of abuse or discrimination, relating to race, religion, creed, or of any other nature. Wilful damage to property, equipment or playing surface.
ArrowUngentlemanly conduct or any other action that is likely to bring the League, Club or Game of Cricket into disrepute or prejudice its good name or interests.
ArrowRepeated infringements of the Spirit of Cricket either by an individual or a team, where each Infringement, in itself, does not warrant any disciplinary action. (Such instances will result in a Disciplinary Hearing and the captain will be held responsible for the conduct of his team).

Reporting
ArrowUmpires should report all incidents of unsatisfactory conduct, as per disciplinary procedures, using the umpires' report card and or the new Disciplinary Report Form. Reports should be succinct and record what happened and what was said.

Action
ArrowThe League to instigate an inquiry/hearing.
ArrowThe club will be asked to conduct an internal inquiry whose findings are considered by a League Disciplinary Panel.
ArrowThis could be a report to be put on record and may be taken into account if there are any subsequent offences.
ArrowThe League Disciplinary Panel will agree, depending on the seriousness of the offence, what action should be taken.

Appeals
ArrowAnyone handed a penalty as a result of the above has a right of appeal.
