Bankfoot climbed to fifth in Division One after scoring a comfortable 90-run win over Baildon in their re-arranged fixture at Wickets Close today.
The 18 points they secured saw them shoot up the table and there was a crumb of comfort for Baildon who lifted themselves off the bottom with their five points, leaving Lightcliffe and Carlton occupying the relegation positions.
Baildon's decision to field first looked to be paying dividends when Ben Howell (4-41) and Joel Fothergill (4-41) reduced the home side to 52-6.
Jawad Waheed changed the tempo of the innings by hitting 48 from 29 balls. He hit five sixes and three fours and was joined in a crucial seventh-wicket stand of 82 by Seif Hussain who made his side's top score of 60 which helped them post a total of 190.
Baildon were bowled out for 100 in reply and that total was dominated by Jonny Reynolds. He made 83, an innings containing six sixes and seven fours, but lacked any support as spinner Andrew Stothart (4-16) and that man Hussain (3-50) did the damage.
After all of their troubles with off the field issues which disrupted their start to the campaign, Bankfoot can at least be happy that in a weekend where every other league game was washed out, they were able to play and post a victory.
