                                                                                                                        11th January 2021

To all Club Representatives

As we start 2021, I thought I should contact all clubs regarding our thoughts for the season ahead. I hope you are all safe and well as we continue to fight the Covid – 19 virus. Everyone’s health is paramount and if we can help this in any way by providing participation in Junior Cricket, then we will continue to do so.

I wish to thank all those clubs that took part in the curtailed 2020 season in July / August and fully understand the reasons why other clubs did not participate.

Although hampered by the weather towards the end of August the majority of games took place. We asked for the headline scores to be entered onto play cricket and many clubs adhered to this.

Looking forward to the 2021 season, our plans are to set up fixtures for a full season as we did last year. It is still very difficult to know what lies ahead with the Covid -19 virus, and I can assure you that we will follow Government and ECB governing body guidelines in all our plans. We are all aware of the continually changing structure to the tier systems and lockdowns.

I am also aware that it will not be possible for clubs to hold indoor net sessions due to current regulations and you will probably not know to a later stage how many juniors you may have available to you during the summer.

It is the intention to revert to playing each age group on the days we did in 2019 i.e.

Under 15 - Sunday Morning

Under 13 - Thursday Evening

Under 11 - Sunday Morning

Under 9 – Wednesday Evening

We will distribute Letter of Intent forms in early February which should be returned by 11th March so fixtures can be compiled. I am also pleased to inform you that we have had a request from Hepworth Idle CC to join the League which has been accepted

In the hope we can play a full season the fixtures will be arranged as previous, the first 9 fixtures on a Regional basis followed by 5 fixtures against clubs of equal standing in the other divisions. If we are unable to fulfil a whole season, then we will look at alternative structures as the needs arise.

We have provisionally entered teams as previous in the YJCF and Joe Lumb Competitions.

In 2020 we agreed we would use Play Cricket for all registrations and results. Some clubs registered players, many did not. For 2021 all players will need to be registered on Play Cricket. Instructions / reminders will be sent to clubs identifying processes in due course

The League is now in a very strong position financially following receipt during the summer of significant sum from the legacy of the late Derek Shuttleworth, whose name has been incorporated in the title of the League.

The Accounts are now with the League Auditor, but there were very few transactions last year as subs were not charged and no trophies presented

The executive will now decide how this money can be invested in the league for the benefit of Junior Cricket in the years ahead.

I do not feel there is need for a meeting at this current time but will ensure there is one prior to the season, probably by Zoom.

The League is constantly looking for new people to join the Executive in helping with the running and organisation of the League. If anyone is willing the please do not hesitate to contact me by email philipradcliffe1106@gmail.com

This email is being sent to my contact list for last season. If future emails for your club are required to be sent to anyone else please let me have contact email address

Best Wishes to you all, keep safe and well

Philip Radcliffe

League Chairman
