Brighouse CC have confirmed that they will begin their season this weekend and play their remaining 2023 fixtures. The impasse between club officials and the players was resolved after extensive mediation on Wednesday evening when an agreement between the two parties was secured.
It means that Brighouse’s first team will entertain Scholes in Division Three on Saturday while their second team will be away to Undercliffe.
League chairman Bill Holmes said: “I am delighted that the dispute has been resolved and we can all now move forward. Much time and effort has been devoted to reaching a resolution and I thank everybody who has played a part particularly Nasa Hussain , the League’s EDI Officer , who has been integral to the parties reaching a satisfactory outcome to this dispute.
“I look to everybody at Brighouse to now work together harmoniously, for the mutual benefit of all parties. The Management Board will be monitoring the progress being made and will act if the commitments given by club officials and players are not honoured over the course of the season.
“I urge the league community to be understanding of what has happened at Brighouse over the past two weeks and support the club as it strives to put its troubles behind it.”
