This follows last Sunday's win at Sutton in Craven CC - report below
The Yorkshire Junior Cricket Festival competition commenced for the Bradford Junior Cricket League last Sunday with the Under 11s visiting the Upper Airedale League at Sutton in Craven CC.
Choosing to bat first on a ground which had been under water for 10 days up until 48 hours before the match, Upper Airedale struggled on a very slow wicket with no bounce against an enthusiastic Bradford attack.
Their innings was held together by 24 from opener Archie Cox whose 24, over half the runs, took 72 deliveries before Ayaan Zafer caught him of the bowling of Abdullah Hussain, the 10th bowler used.
Ayaan Zafer and Ashwin Singh took 2 wickets apiece, with Hashim Khokar and Harron Nazam taking one each whilst Harry Dalzell and Taha Iftikhar each affected a run out as Upper Airedale closed on 44 all out from 22.5 of their allotted 30 overs.
The Bradford reply got off to a poor start and at 10 for 3 the match looked to be in the balance. However a measured partnership of 34 between Haroon Nazam, 15 not out, and Taha Iftikhar, 14 (both off 66 balls) was only broken with the scores level as the Bradford JCL won by 6 wickets. Both boys showed great application on a most difficult wicket as Bradford top the table at this early stage.
