Connolly tops league batting averages

Nick Connolly has topped the Gordon Rigg Bradford Premier League Premier Division batting averages in his final season as a player.

The Ossett opener finished a glorious summer with 1,207 runs at an average of 75.44. His bumper haul included six centuries and seven fifties.

Connolly finished ahead of last year’s winner Brad Schmulian. The Woodlands skipper ended his side’s title-winning campaign with 1,105 runs at 61.39.

New Farnley had both the top bowler and the leading wicketkeeper. Left arm spinner Gurman Randhawa picked up 54 wickets at 12,63 to finish just ahead of Schmulian who claimed 60 wickets at 12.98 with his leg spin. The top wicket taker was Townville’s Jack Hughes with 61.

Dan Hodgson has topped the wicketkeeping charts for the second successive season. He took 31 catches and made six stumpings as he finished the season with 37 victims.

Hodgson took the most catches by a wicketkeeper, 31, while Luke Heinemann of Pudsey St Lawrence claimed the most stumpings, 13.
