Hanging Heaton's bid to retain the Vitality Ecb Clubs T20 Cup was ended today as they were beaten by Sheffield Collegiate by five wickets in the Regional Final at Bennett Lane.
Their Yorkshire ECB Premier League South opponents will now compete in the National Finals at Derby on September 15.
Hanging Heaton had hoped they could retain their crown after coming safely through the Area Final last month, but on this occasion they were were comfortably beaten.
Jamie Carrington blasted an unbeaten 70 from just 31 balls as Collegiate passed Hanging Heaton's score of 174-7 with 17 balls to spare.
Hanging Heaton might have sensed it wasn't going to be their day when openers Gary Fellows and Ben Kohler-Cadmore were both dismissed for one as their side slipped to 3-2.
Joe Fraser also fell cheaply before Callum Geldart (52) hit five sixes and three fours while adding94 for the fourth wicket with Ishmail Dawood (44).
When David Stiff, pictured, hammered six sixes in a rapid 48 not out, Hanging Heaton had posted a score of 174-7. Henry Eldred (3-33) was the pick of the Collegiate bowlers.
The visitors lost early wickets in reply and slipped to 24-3 before Carrington, took centre stage and powered his side to a deserved victory.
While Hanging Heaton reflect on a season without any silverware, Collegiate will be hoping to be the second Yorkshire side to win the national title.
