East Ardsley secure place in final

East Ardsley will face Division Two leaders Jer Lane in this season’s Gordon Rigg Jack Hampshire Cup final at Spen Victoria on September 12.

They overcame a determined Northowram Fields side by 38 runs despite failing to bat out their overs when they batted first.

East Ardsley were bowled out for 284 in 36.5 overs, but it was a formidable total which Northowram Fields were unable to challenge despite an unbeaten century from wicketkeeper Kyle Welsh.

Josh Wild (70), Jonathan McGregor (66) and skipper Richard Vigars (39) ensured their side scored at a brisk rate despite losing wickets to the bowling of Will Parkin (4-77) and Max Gardner (3-42).

McGregor and Vigars put on 109 for the seventh wicket which enabled their side to post such a challenging total.

Opener Welsh continued his good form for Northowram Fields with a knock of 103 which contained five sixes and five fours., but Lewis Cockburn (30) was  next top scorer as Northowram Fields finished on 246-7.
