League joins social media boycott

The Gordon Rigg Bradford Premier League is supporting the social media boycott which has been promoted by professional football and cricket.

The league does not condone abuse, racism or harassment of individuals through social media and stopped using its Twitter and Facebook accounts at 3pm today.

All announcements will be made through the league website or on email until the end of the boycott at midnight on Monday.

A number of clubs have indicated that they joined the boycott, and this is an important stand which deserves the very widest support.

League chairman David Young said: “We have joined the boycott because we hope that by uniting with other sporting organisations that pressure will be brought on the Social Media providers to do much more to eliminate on-line hate, abuse and racism.”
