League on hunt for new umpires

The All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League has launched a drive to recruit new umpires for the 2020 season.

Two training courses have been arranged and the league is appealing to former players and cricket followers to become match officials.

The league is offering to pay the course fees for all candidates who go on to become members of the umpiring panel throughout the 2020 season.

The courses will be staffed by ECB ACO tutors and will prepare candidates for the challenge of umpiring in the Bradford Premier League.

A Stage One and Two course will be held at Pudsey Congs on Saturday, October 26 abd Saturday, November 2 from 10am to 4.30pm. There will be a second Stage One and  Two course on February 22 and 29 from 10am to 4.30pm.

Bradford Premier League Umpires Association chairman Philip Radcliffe is anxious that the drive for new umpires is a success as numbers have dwindled in recent years.

He said: "The courses are tailored so that we can train interested people to become club umpires or help those who are already club umpires to join the league panel.

"We want to reach out to men or women who have either retired from playing, have stopped at a young age or just have a love for cricket and would like to watch from the best seat in the house."

Anybody interested in finding out more information or wishes to register for either of the courses should contact Philip Radcliffe on 07740 853047 or email philipradcliffe1106@gmail.com
