In order to clarify the current status of Brighouse Cricket Club and to correct misleading comments and speculation on social media, the league has released the following statement.
Brighouse have not resigned from the league. Its officials confirmed late last week that their games last weekend had been forfeited and subsequently informed the league that they will be forfeiting both games on May 6th. This was despite strenuous attempts by the league to resolve the current impasse during which club officials reiterated their intention to forfeit all future games this season.
This is clearly an unacceptable and unsustainable situation that cannot be allowed to continue. The Management Board will consider all the available options when it convenes next week.
In the meantime, the league is continuing its efforts to achieve a resolution that will see the resumption of cricket at Brighouse.
The Management Board sympathises with all the clubs affected by the internal dispute at Brighouse and will not be making any further statement until after its meeting next week.
