The league is saddened to learn of the death of Life Member Tom Mathers aged 92.
Tom, for whom the expression a proper English gentleman might have been invented was a wonderful servant to Idle Cricket Club and the Bradford League and will be sadly missed by so many.
Tom was a winner of the prestigious Sir Len Huttton award in 1993 for his outstanding services.
League chairman David Young said '" I am truly saddened to learn of Tom's death. He was always there at Idle to greet you with a warm handshake and a smile and the words 'Welcome to Idle'. Every supporter of Bradford League cricket will be saddened to learn of his death."
Tom was predeseased by his wife Kathleenand leaves a son, Peter
A memorial service will be held at St James' Church Bolton Road, Bradford on Thursday October 3rd at 2pm. Donations are to Marie Curie in memory of Tom. Flowers are not requested.
