Mark Heald steps down from role as chairman and is made Life Vice President

Current League Chairman Mark Heald has stepped down from the Bradford Premier League Management Board.

His decision was announced at Friday’s annual dinner when league president David Young presented him with a commemorative certificate and confirmed he would be made a Life Vice-President.

Mark who played most of his cricket at East Ardsley joined the Central Yorkshire League Management Board some 16 years ago.

During his time with the CYCL he held the roles of Disciplinary Recorder, Vice Chairman and Chairman. He was pivotal alongside David Young and Alan Birkinshaw, in the merger of the CYCL with the Bradford Cricket League.

Mark was a member of the Premier League Management Board which formed the four new Premier Leagues in Yorkshire, which included the Bradford Premier Cricket League.

Since the merger Mark has held the roles of Disciplinary Recorder, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman.

Mark said that he was stepping down due to finding his time restricted due to work commitments. That he was happy to be leaving the Management Board in a very strong position and in the hands of very capable people led by President David Young.  Mark wishes all involved in the League the very best for the future.

At tonight's league agm, President David Young paid tribute to Mark Heald. He said: "Mark Heald has sadly had to stand down as Chairman of the league due to work commitments.

"Mark has given 16 years of service to the CYCL and BPL. Without his influence the league would not be where it is today. On behalf of us all I would like to say thank you Mark! Mark’s resignation came too late to advertise the position as vacant in time for tonight’s meeting so until a replacement is found the management Board have asked me to act as interim chair. The board will look to appoint a new chairman as soon as possible."
