Holders Northowram Fields clinched the last place in the semi-finals of the Gordon Rigg T20 Group B Cup with an emphatic seven wicket win over East Ardsley.
The two sides met in a play-off game after they finished tied for the position of best runners up and Northowram Fields took their chance to set up a repeat of last year’s final.
They travel to Sandal next Tuesday and will be bidding to secure a place in the final for the third successive year.
East Ardsley had hoped to capitalise on winning the toss and batting first, but their hopes – rather like their batting – disintegrated.
Opener Jonathan Macgregor (21) proved to be their top scorer as they were bowled out in 19.1 overs. Joe Hough (3-12) and Jack Duffy (3-23) were the chief wicket takers.
Northowram Fields skipper John Lister gave his side a brisk start to their reply with a knock of 33 which was largely responsible for them knocking off the runs in 10.3 overs.
There are three T20 Cup semi-finals next Tuesday. In the Group A Cup, Bradford & Bingley take on Woodlands while in the Group B Cup, Sandal meet Northowram Fields and Heckmondwike & Carlinghow entertain Jer Lane.
