Shehzad powers Heckmondwike & Carlinghow to victory

Heckmondwike & Carlinghow opened their JW Lees Brewery T20 Group B Cup campaign with a thrilling three-wicket win over Hopton Mills.

Khurram Shehzad made an unbeaten 94 from just 45 balls as Heckmondwike & Carlinghow chased down their opponents’ score of 182-6 with eight balls to spare.

Shehzad hit five sixes and ten fours and was backed up by Umar Qureshi (32) as Heckmondwike & Carlinghow bagged 20 points in their first Pool Five game.

Ashley Mackereth (4-29) and Andy Grey (3-33) were the wicket takers for Hopton Mills.

Mackereth had earlier led the way with 87 in the Hop ton Mills innings while Umar Abbas made 33.

Oulton rounded off their Pool Three programme without a win. They lost by three wickets after Great Preston chased down their score of 118-8 with three overs to spare.

Ben Child top scored with 30 in their 119-8 beforeOllie Baron thelped Great Preston to victory after taking 3-16 earlier.

Adwalton chased down a Gildersome & Farnley Hill score of 132 to boost their chances of qualifying for the quarter finals.

The victory owed much to the bowling of Chris Priestley who took 4-10 as Gildersome & Farnley Hill were bowled out for 132, Joshua Potter top scored with 31. Adwalton eased to victory with 15 balls to spare with Matt Donohoe making 42.

Jacob Slator produced a good all-round performance to steer Northowram Fields to a Pool Two win over Liversedge. Slator took 4-16 as Liversedge were bowled out for 97 and hit 28 as they reached their target with one over to spare.

Sandal boosted their hopes of makinhg the last eight with a crushing 10-wicket win over East Ardsley. They chased down their opponents' score of 122-4 with 2.3 overs to spare in a contest reduced to 14 overs per side. The Pool One game between Yeadon and Windhill & Daisy Hill was abandoned. It means elimination for Yeadon.
