T20 Cup opening night is a washout

 

The weather was the winner on a soggy opening night for this season's Gordon Rigg T20 Group A Cup.

Six of the eight games were called off and switched to Thursday while the only two where play was able to get under way, rain forced an abandonment.

They did at least manage to complete the first  innings at Highmoor Lane where Hartshead Moor made 115-9 in thjeir 20 overs again st Woodlands.

Spinners Kez Ahmed (4-26) and Brad Schmulian (3-23) were the chief wicket takers for Woodlands, who were unable to start their innings as the rain swept in.

Undercliffe had made 10-1 from 1.3 overs when their tie with Baildon, which had been switched from Jenny Lane to Intake Road, was washed out.

Thursday's matches
Group Two: East Bierley v New Farnley.
Group Three: Farsley v Morley, Pudsey Congs v Pudsey St Lawrence.
Group Four: Ossett v Townville, Methley v Hanging Heaton
