Townville reach first Priestley Cup final

Townville reached the Gordon Rigg Priestley Cup final for the first time after scoring a crushing nine-wicket win over East Bierley.

It means they will now meet New Farnley at Undercliffe next Sunday – 24 hours after hosting their title rivals in a Premier Division clash.

For East Bierley’s young guns the semi-final proved to be a bridge too far for them. Their bold attacking play was no match for Townville’s experienced bowling attack as they were bowled out for 70 after being put in to bat.

Conor Harvey struck a crucial blow in the first over and East Bierley never truly recovered. They lost their last seven wickets for just ten runs as spinner Harry Clewett (4-7) and Jack Hughes (2-0) enjoyed quick success when they came on to bowl.

Townville lost their overseas player Athelbert Braithwaite cheaply, but Harry Warwick (38no) and Jack Hughes (24no) saw them to victory in just 10.2 overs.
