Undercliffe’s cricketers are organising a special fund-raising event for a young cancer sufferer and her family. They are holding a fun evening at the club’s Intake Road ground on Friday, August 17.
Player Michael Kelsey and his wife Gemma are behind the initiative after learning of the plight of ten-year-old Belle Ellis.
After battling osteosarcoma, undergoing months of gruelling chemotherapy and having a massive operation to remove removing most of the bone in her leg and replacing it with titanium, Belle celebrated the end of her treatment in May.
Soon after it was revealed the cancer had returned aggressively in her lungs and her family found out last week that the chemotherapy hasn't worked.
Michael Kelsey said: “There is no way possible to make this horrendous and heart-breaking time any easier for her or her family.
“We would like to relieve some of the financial pressure so that her Daddy can be at home with his family and give them the ability to make as many memories as they can in the time they have left together.
“We need your help. Firstly, we are organising the most amazing family fun evening for Belle on Friday, August 17 at Undercliffe Cricket Club.
“If you can’t be there but would like to support our cause please make a donation on our just giving page, every donation is gratefully received however small.”
