Woodlands will face the 2018 winners Richmondshire away in the second round of the ECB Royal London National Clubs Championship after breezing to a nine-wicket win over Wakefield Thornes at Albert Terrace.
Openers Sam Frankland (88) and Tim Jackson (84no) shared an opening stand of 166 as the league champions eased past the Thornes total of 197-7. with 4.1 overs to spare.
Wicketkeeper Joe Billings (67) and Matthew Taylor (33no) were the main contributors for Thornes after they elected to bat first.
In the next round Woodlands will come up against a player who wrote his name into Ashes folklore in 2005, the Richmondshire captain Gary Pratt. He is best remembered for fielding as a substitute for England in the Trent Bridge Test and running out the Australian captain Ricky Ponting.
Woodlands will visit their North Yorkshire South Durham League opponents on Sunday, May 29. Richmondshire defeated Hetton Lyons by 57 runs.
